FAQs
Q: Why does my camera show offline in the app?
A: Most of the time it's a network issue. Check that your camera or NVR is powered on and connected to the router. If you're using WiFi, make sure the signal is strong enough — consider moving the device closer to the router or running a cable instead.
Q: I can't receive push notifications on my phone.
A: This is usually a phone permission issue, not a camera problem. Go to your phone settings and make sure GuardViewer can send notifications and run in the background. Also check that the alarm push option is turned on in the app settings.
Q: The live view is choppy or lagging.
A: Video streaming calls for bandwidth. Try switching from Main Stream to Sub Stream in the app settings — you'll get a smoother picture even on slower connections. Closing other apps that use the network helps too.
Q: How do I add my device to GuardViewer?
A: Three ways work — scan the QR code on the device, enter the UID manually, or let the app search for devices on your local network. The QR code method is the fastest if your device has one printed on it.
Q: Two-way audio isn't working.
A: Not all cameras support this. Only BinSight series cameras have built-in speaker and mic for two-way talk. Check that your camera model supports it. Also make sure you've granted microphone permission to the app on your phone.
Q: GuardStation can't find my camera on the network.
A: This is almost always a firewall issue on the PC. Windows Firewall often blocks local network discovery. Try running GuardStation as administrator, or add it to your firewall's allowed apps list.
Q: The video looks blurry on the PC.
A: You're probably watching Sub Stream by default. Right-click on the camera window and switch to Main Stream — that's the HD quality your camera is capable of. You can also check your network bandwidth.
Q: I can't find my recorded files for playback.
A: Double-check two things — that your hard drive has free space, and that recording is actually enabled in the schedule settings. Sometimes the date range filter in the playback window is set too narrow.
Q: Viewing multiple cameras at once is really slow.
A: It's demanding on your graphics card. Try lowering the decode effort in Settings, or reduce the number of cameras on-screen. Four to nine cameras usually works fine; sixteen streams can struggle on weaker PCs.
Q: My snapshots won't save to my computer.
A: Check if the folder you're saving to exists and has write permissions. Try changing the save folder to your Desktop or Documents folder first. Running GuardStation as administrator usually clears this up.
